When operating a business, either from commercial premises or from home, you are required to comply with the health & safety legislation in place to protect yourself, your employees, apprentices and your customers.
The HSE provides advice and guidance on any health & safety aspect with regard to running a business, whether you are just starting out or have been in business for many years. There are various guides available to help you understand your obligations and what you must do such as carrying out a risk assessment and if you have five or more employees you will need to have a formal health & safety policy in place. Regular reviewing of your policy and the carrying out of regular risk assessments is advised.
