Health & Wellbeing in the Workplace

The UK still has high levels of absence and with the current economic climate and an ageing workforce, the likelihood of health problems affecting employees is increasing.

Experts believe that work is good for us and Health and Wellbeing in the Workplace is high on the Government's agenda with employers being encouraged to be more proactive. Many employers, however, are not sure of the support available and what they can do.

This half day conference will highlight current initiatives and where to go for help. Conference speakers are from Hartlepool Borough Council, Hartlepool MIND, Jobcentre Plus and NHS Hartlepool who will examine:

  • The business case for improving health & wellbeing in the workplace
  • Current initiatives
  • New 'Fit Notes'
  • Disability Discrimination Act Update
  • The role of Jobcentre Plus Disability Employment Advisers
  • Workplace Health and the North East Better Health at Work Award
  • Occupational health support available locally
  • Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT)
  • Alcohol, Employment & Public Health
  • The new Tees Valley In-Work Support Programme
  • Practical steps for employers to consider
