National recognition for Economic Development services

The Hartlepool Enterprise Team is celebrating after achieving a nationally recognised accreditation.

As part of Hartlepool Borough Council Economic Development Department, the Enterprise Team has been successful in gaining the internal and external matrix award. Matrix is the national quality standard for any organisation that delivers Information, Advice and/or Guidance (IAG) relating to learning and work and its purpose is to help organisations to maintain high standards and improve their existing services.

Becoming matrix accredited was imperative for the department as it will provide opportunities to bid for external funding such as ESF Co-financing and will give all sections of the department, including Hartlepool Enterprise Services, a more marketable appearance, giving recognition to the excellent work currently being undertaken by all staff.

Mick Emerson, Principal Economic Development Officer at Hartlepool Borough Council comments: "The matrix standard demonstrates to our customers that they will receive a continuous high level of service, which is reassuring for people looking to set-up or develop their business.

"It is great news to have achieved the accreditation, and is testament to the contribution made by our staff and associates within the department."

The assessor found that users of the service felt valued as a client or employee, and that staff were considered to be approachable and supportive, with a willingness to take on new ideas. Well done to all those involved!
