A taste of things to come

More than 30,000 people packed the area around Hartlepool Marina for Hartlepool Dockfest – the two-day feast of free family entertainment held last month.

The event was organised by Hartlepool Council as a prelude to the finale of The Tall Ships Races on 7-10 August 2010. With a dazzling musical line-up including Ian Broudie and The Lightning Seeds, a sparkling programme of top comedy, unique street theatre, a Foodfest and a colourful Community Cavalcade, there was truly something for all tastes and ages.

The enormous success of Dockfest has added even more to the excitement of the countdown to next year's Tall Ships extravaganza, which is being backed by a host of organisations including the North East Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Small Businesses and Hartlepool Business Forum.

Firms of all kinds are being urged not to miss out on the chance to be involved with one of the most spectacular and prestigious events the North- East will ever host.

"Dockfest was a marvellous taster of what will be an amazing four days next summer," says the Council's Tall Ships Project Manager Michelle Daurat. "There are a variety of high value sponsorship opportunities available and we want to team up with businesses of all sizes to be part of it.

"Sponsorship packages range from £1,000 to £50,000 but we are keen to listen to any ‘in-kind' contributions or tailor packages to meet individual company needs."
