Hartlepool Business Forum was delighted to welcome guest speaker Bill Scott to its January seminar, which followed his story of developing a fledgling business into a multi-million pound group.

Founder member of the Wilton Group, Bill Scott is a highly regarded and respected business professional with a great tale to tell. He delivered an inspirational and eye-opening presentation to a gripped audience on Thursday 22nd January at Hartlepool Maritime Experience's Sir William Gray Suite. The event was kindly sponsored by Publicity Seekers and Reactive Design.

Bill recalled the story of the company’s growth, starting in Middlesbrough, moving to Hartlepool and then to larger premises at Port Clarence Offshore Base. He referred to inspiration drawn from his business partner, his former employer and even his grandmother in giving him that ultimate drive and ambition for success.

Together with Steve Glenn, Bill started the business in 1994, gradually setting up and acquiring more companies into the Group, and earning many plaudits from industry for delivery on time, working safely, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

The presentation was followed by an open discussion and question/answer session, which delved into the highs and lows in developing a group with a £30m turnover and 300-strong workforce. Bill also gave his views on the present economic climate and his vision for the future.

The Forum’s next seminar will be held on Thursday 26th February, which will be an informative event held by Business Link representatives.
