New CSCS Testing Centre

In order to meet the growing demands of the local construction industry and the requirement for employees to have a valid CSCS Card to work in this sector, Jobsmart in Hartlepool has recently become an official CSCS Testing Centre.

The CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) Card is the industry's largest scheme; it lists the holder’s qualifications and is valid for either three or five years. The card currently covers over 220 occupations including trades, technical, supervisory and management. It demonstrates health and safety awareness as all cardholders have to pass the appropriate CITB-ConstructionSkills Health and Safety tests. Most contractors and clients now demand proof of competence i.e. a CSCS card, before allowing workers onto their sites (further information can be found at www.cscs.uk.com).

Jobsmart is a one stop shop providing free IAG (Information, Advice and Guidance) to local residents around employment and training. It also offers free services to local businesses including recruitment support, advertising of vacancies and free interview facilities.

Jobsmart is a Hartlepool Borough Council managed and funded project and since opening in September 2007 has supported over 3000 Hartlepool residents.

Within the Jobsmart office on Park Road, there are two testing stations which are available to sit all types of CSCS tests. This testing service is available to both clients and businesses who wish to pay for the tests privately. Using the CSCS Test Centre is simple and efficient, and revision material can be provided if necessary. Once candidates feel ready, Jobsmart will be able to arrange for them to sit the test within five working days.

The charge is £30.00 per test and an additional £30.00 to apply for the card. Jobsmart is situated close to the town centre at 41 Park Road, where there is ample parking opposite (charges apply).
